Castles, galleries, waterfalls, and valley towns — all within reach of the property.
The destination
Naggar sits on a ridge above the Beas River, 22 km north of Manali. It is older than the town below — a trading post, a capital of the Kullu kingdom, and now a quiet village of stone houses, terraced orchards, and a 15th-century castle that has watched over the valley for six centuries.
The property is a 10-minute walk from the castle. Nicholas Roerich lived in Naggar for decades, and the gallery beside the castle holds the largest collection of his Himalayan paintings in India. The valley carries a particular quality of light — thin air, deep shadows, and a blue so saturated it almost vibrates — that artists and climbers have been chasing since the 19th century.
When to visit
Each season brings a different valley. Choose yours.
Chestnut and cherry blossoms frame the valley. Day hikes to Jana Waterfall are at their most vivid, and the temperature sits between 15–25 °C — perfect for exploring Naggar Castle’s terraced gardens.
The Kullu valley opens up. Day trips to Old Manali and Kasol are straightforward, and evenings on the sit-out with the fireplace off are replaced by starlit dinners on the terrace.
Golden larches, crisp air, and the clearest skies of the year. The Roerich Art Gallery’s Himalayan collection reads differently in autumn light — this is the painter’s season.
Snow settles on the castle ramparts. Slow mornings by the fireplace, short forest walks on packed trails, and the gallery still open by appointment. The property is pet-friendly year-round.
